Crafty Sunday

This has been such a great weekend! Friday night, David and I got groceries and then had breakfast for dinner. Our friend Quintin came over and ate with us, and we watched Limitless. I didn’t really enjoy the movie much, but it was still a good night.

Yesterday I got up at 6 with David, and when he left for work I made a sweet little breakfast of a waffle and some Greek strawberry yogurt with a little coffee. After I ate and watched a few episodes of Saved by the Bell, I got to work cleaning our disgusting little love den. Thankfully, it was really not nearly as cluttered as it normally is by the end of the week, so cleaning didn’t take long at all. I did, however, get down on my hands and knees and scrub the baseboards, and take every single book of all my bookshelves and each one as well as the shelves. It took what seemed like forever, but I finally finished!

After that, David’s aunt Audrey came over and picked me up to hang out. She and I have a standing ritual of hanging out every Saturday unless one of us is busy, so we went to Sonic to get treats and then went over to her house. There, we basically just fawned over her two dogs for two hours, then she brought me back. Then David’s cousin Hannah came over to visit for awhile. Her husband gets off at 7 on Saturdays, too, so we hung out until David got home, then she sat and talked with him for awhile before she left. David and I were so exhausted that we went to sleep by maybe 9 last night.

This morning, I got up at 6 again, and as soon as Dollar General opened at 8, I walked in and got a newspaper and some white spray paint. I have been wanting to do something creative for weeks now, and I finally got into my head this morning what exactly I wanted to do. When I first moved here, I went to the Corinth Flea Market and bought a little mirrored tray from a sweet man whose booth was all half price. The mirror was starting to chip a little, and the edge of the tray was starting to look tarnished, so I decided to spray paint the tray.

This is what it looked like before. It’s not a very good picture but it’s the only one I have!

It’s on top of the dresser in the bedroom.

I took the glass out and put the frame on top of newspaper on our porch. I gave it three coats of white spray paint, and then turned it over for three coats on the other side.

In the drying process. I also painted the picture frame in the middle.

When I finished, I found some yellow fabric in my scrap drawer and wrapped the mirror in it to cover where the mirror was starting to chip.

The finished product:

I am so pleased with how this turned out! I love how it makes the dresser pop with a little more color!

I also went with Maddie, David’s sister, to meet a woman who I’m going to be pet-sitting for this week. She has a cat and a dog, and they are so sweet and friendly. I’m really looking forward to spending time with them!

I’m going to sign off here and enjoy the rest of my Sunday with David! Have a great week, guys! See you soon!
